The Krishna-bhakti tradition inspired by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486–1534) of Bengal, centred on chanting the holy names and devotion to Radha–Krishna.
Overview
Gaudiya Vaishnavism places sankirtana, the congregational chanting of the names of Krishna, at the centre of practice.
History
The Six Goswamis of Vrindavan wrote its theology after Chaitanya. In the twentieth century the Gaudiya Math and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness spread it widely.
Practice
Chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, study of the Bhagavata Purana, and kirtan.
