Kashmir Shaivism (Trika)

The non-dual Shaiva tradition of Kashmir, associated with the Shiva Sutras of Vasugupta and the works of Abhinavagupta.

Overview

Kashmir Shaivism teaches that the world is the free self-expression of Shiva as pure consciousness, and that liberation is recognition of one's identity with Shiva.

History

Its classical period runs from Vasugupta (9th century) to Abhinavagupta and Kshemaraja (10th–11th centuries). Swami Lakshmanjoo was a well-known 20th-century teacher.
